A traditional auction is a public sale, conducted by a professional auctioneer, at which (amongst other features) Lots are normally sold to the highest bidder. We follow the RICS Guidance Note to ensure best practice in the service we provide.

All auctions we hold are hosted on the BidSpotter.co.uk and iBidder.co.uk auction platforms; which closely mimic a real auction room process, but the bidders can be worldwide and in their comfort of their own surroundings.

Generally traditional auction sales ‘on site’ will be held where the client has:

  • a fixed or restricted time requirement;
  • a sufficient quantity of Lots;
  • suitable premises to allow viewing and sale;
  • no prohibition from landlord, etc.;
  • ample demand expected;
  • assets are deemed most appropriate for sale by traditional auction;
  • open market disposal necessary.

Preparations for each traditional auction will vary tremendously. Individual action plans and timetables will be prepared and followed, with clients provided with prompt reporting of significant events and regular summaries of activity.

Clients often benefit from our ability to relocate assets to our 25,000 sq ft storage, sale and office facilities.

Traditional auction sales often attract buyers throughout the UK and abroad. Many businesses and individuals have realised the benefit of using traditional auctions to realise capital tied up in surplus assets and JPS Chartered Surveyors can manage and coordinate significant disposal solutions, to suit a clients specific requirements. We act only as agents and sell assets on a consignment basis.

Details of any forthcoming sales including our client’s assets can be seen by clicking LIVE AUCTIONS on the menu bar above.

As fourth generation professional auctioneers, we literally grew up in prams underneath the rostrum with our parents or grandfather selling.  Nowadays, the most effective method of conducting an auction is using an online auction platform.

Seeking to embrace our heritage from our ‘rostrum-artist’ ancestors whilst progressively harnessing modern technology, we believe that online auction platforms, including ample and accurate descriptions, representative imaging and availability exposure provides the best opportunity for a vendor to realise the highest net realisations, but also provide the opportunity for purchasers to participate in a sale.
